Fundación Alimentaris has launched a call for proposals to support research initiatives and community-based experiences focused on agroecology and food systems in Argentine Patagonia.
El Bolsón, May 20, 2026 – Fundación Alimentaris announced a new funding opportunity aimed at promoting agroecology and sustainable food systems across Argentine Patagonia. The call is open to public institutions, private organizations, and civil society organizations with territorial experience, and will award grants of up to USD 10,000 to four selected projects involving either research or community-based initiatives.
The initiative seeks to strengthen projects that contribute to sustainable food systems by promoting production, marketing, and food access models that integrate environmental stewardship, local development, and resilient local economies.
“For Fundación Alimentaris, supporting agroecological initiatives in Argentine Patagonia is a tangible way to strengthen the communities already leading these efforts by providing more tools, greater visibility, and new opportunities to expand their territorial impact,” said Joaquín González Cosiorovski, Environment Director at Fundación Alimentaris.
The launch took place both in person and online at Fundación Cooperar and featured a panel discussion on food systems and agroecology. The event was supported by the Argentine Society of Agroecology and the National University of Río Negro.
Speakers included Patricia Aguirre, PhD in Anthropology; Santiago Sarandón, agronomist and Professor of Agroecology at the National University of La Plata; Griselda Muñoz, President of the Argentine Society of Agroecology; and Federico Vercelli, lecturer in the Agroecology degree program at the National University of Río Negro.
About the Call for Proposals
The call is open to research projects and community-based initiatives related to agroecological production systems that are implemented in, or have a direct impact on, Argentine Patagonia.
Projects selected by an independent jury will receive financial support, communications and visibility assistance, support for documenting and systematizing their experiences, and the opportunity to participate in the 2027 National Congress on Agroecology.
The initiative is supported by the Argentine Society of Agroecology (SAAE), the Andean Campus of the National University of Río Negro (UNRN), and the National Network of Municipalities and Communities that Promote Agroecology (RENAMA).
The call for proposals will remain open from May 20 to July 31, 2026, and the selected projects will be announced in November 2026.
